Tuition Assistance (TA) is available for Active Component and Active Reserve Marines serving in Marine Forces Reserve. TA provides considerable financial help for Marines seeking to further their off-duty education through accredited civilian campuses, satellite programs on military installations, or through distance learning. Being an Education Counselor for the Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES)is a unique experience. Our Marines are located at every USMC Reserve site and I&I staff throughout the country, and in some cases, overseas. They are assigned to colleges and universities in almost every state in the country. I counsel them in my office, by phone, and through email. The average number of Marines I deal with on a daily basis is: office visit 9; phone 35-40; email 45-50. With these numbers, time management is an essential priority, and the Academic Explorer (AeX) is an excellent tool to use. It is a quick, effective and efficient way to help our Marines. Searching for a program that suits their desires and requirements seems effortless. They see the results almost immediately, and based upon these results, conduct further educational research with confidence.
