AFCT-Every Monday Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT), formerly known as Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), consists of questions in nine different areas: General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Numerical Operations, Auto and Shop Information, Mathematical Knowledge, Mechanical Comprehension, and Electronic Information. AFCT is for active duty personnel only.
DLPT-Every Tuesday and Wednesday Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) is designed as a standard test for determining listening and reading proficiency in a foreign language.
DLAB-Every Wednesday Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB) Test is used to test the general ability of a service-member to learn a foreign language.
CLEP/DSST-Every Wednesday College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests and DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSSTs) are computer-based and used to grant exemption from and credit for specific college courses. Free to active duty/reserve personnel; for eligible civilians and veterans each CLEP test cost $70 + $20 administrative fee and each DSST cost $80 + $20 administrative fee. Interested persons MUST call (703) 486-8666 to register.
College 101-Every Tuesday and Friday College 101 is an informational brief intended to provide advisement to Marines regarding college terminology and their educational responsibilities, as well as their financial obligations when using TA. In order to us TA, this brief is a mandatory requirement of the Marine Corps TA Funding Policy.
TABE-Every Thursday Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) is a standard test designed to measure a Marine’s basic language, basic reading, and mathematic levels of proficiency. It is required prior to participation in the Military Academic Skills Program (MASP) and may be used to determine eligibility for participation in the Tuition Assistance Program.

SAM BAGWELL Education Services Officer (ESO)
Samuel L. Bagwell, (Sam) is a native of Melfa, Virginia. Upon retirement in 2000 from the Marine Corps, Sam worked as a Education Advisor, for National University. He served as the ESO for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot from 2001 until 2007 and presently serving as the ESO for Marine Corps Base Henderson Hall, Arlington VA. During his off time he enjoy working in his community as a Mentor to young men. He serves on several committee both on and off duty.

Melinda provides college information, processes Tuition Assistance requests, coordinates the Military Academic Skills Program, and provides support for all office functions.

MS. GUTHRIE has over 20 years experience working with the Marine Corps. She handles Testing, Tuition Assitance, and Education Counseling.
